If you’re hearing a high-pitched squeaking or whistling noise from your Ideal Logic or Logic+ boiler, you’re not alone.
This issue is commonly reported by homeowners and landlords — and fortunately, there’s a known solution.
In this blog, we explain what causes the noise and how our engineers diagnose and resolve it.
Common Cause: The Venturi
One of the most frequent culprits is a partially blocked Venturi — a small but essential component inside the boiler that regulates air and gas mixture flow.
Customer Complaint:
“The boiler runs, but I hear a high-pitched squeak — especially when it’s firing up.”
Step 1: Check the Venturi
The Venturi can collect debris or carbon dust over time. This build-up disturbs airflow, causing the squeaky sound.
Fix:
• Remove and inspect the Venturi for obstructions.
• Clean it gently using wire wool (as shown in the diagram below).

Still Squeaking? Check the Gas Valve
If the Venturi is clean and the noise still persists, the next likely cause is the gas valve. A worn or faulty valve can lead to air/gas flow imbalance, which produces that high-frequency squeal.
Fix:
• Replace the gas valve with a manufacturer-approved part.
• Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer for this work.
