What’s Causing It?
At the top of the heat exchanger in this boiler, there’s a green plastic flue collector. This push-fit part connects to the heat exchanger and routes to the flue system.
Over time, these flue collectors can develop cracks. When they do:
• Condensation starts to drip from the collector.
• These drips fall directly onto the return thermistor located just below.
• As a result, the thermistor gives off false readings, leading to intermittent operation or full lockout.
The Fix
To fully resolve the issue:
• Replace the flue collector with a new unit.
• Replace the return thermistor, which may have already been damaged due to prolonged exposure to moisture.
